The Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo hosted both the EPIA conference and the Advanced School on Artificial Intelligence (EAIA).

The EAIA brought together 35 students for two days, providing a fantastic opportunity to deepen their knowledge of AI through engaging sessions and valuable exchanges of ideas.

A special highlight of EPIA was the tribute ceremony for retired professors and researchers who have made significant contributions to our field. We were honored to recognize: Amílcar Cardoso, António Porto, Bernardete Ribeiro, Ernesto Costa, Gabriel Pereira Lopes, João Gama, João Pavão Martins and Pedro Barahona.
We are grateful for the legacy they have left and continue to inspire. We still need their guidance and support as we face new challenges in AI, and their continued involvement will be key to our progress.
A big thank you to all the participants and collaborators who contributed to making both the EPIA and EAIA a huge success. Let’s keep pushing forward the future of Artificial Intelligence in Portugal!
