CFP Deadline: 30/11/2021, Energies, SI: Distributed Energy Management for Vehicle-to-Grid Networks

Application Deadline: 30-11-2021

Event Date: 30-11-2021

Dear Colleagues,

The electrification of the transportation sector has been gaining increasing importance. In the coming years, more and more electric vehicles (EVs) of different sizes will help to keep greenhouse gas emissions at controlled levels. The intensive use of EVs will also bring additional energy demand, requiring intelligent strategies for battery charging. However, EVs can contribute to better energy efficiency and renewable energy integration, and the interconnection of EVs in smart grids opens new opportunities, namely, as regards vehicle-to-grid (V2G) services. Gridable EVs do not only charge their batteries at the power grid but also discharge to supply the grid, supporting it in case of technical constraints and consumption peaks.

V2G networks enable the efficient management of the available distributed energy resources, taking advantage of the flexibility for the EVs charging and the provision of V2G services to adapt to the renewable-based electric energy generation. Advanced flexibility strategies for V2G and innovative methods for the planning and operation of distribution networks that consider the V2G capability provide new solutions for distributed energy resources management and congestion management in distribution grids.

This Special Issue will address all aspects related to distributed energy management in the scope of V2G networks, focusing on new solutions to improve and maintain power quality and energy efficiency while enabling high penetration of renewable-based generation and EVs. The Special Issue welcomes original and innovative contributions regarding new models and methods, as well as real solutions and real-life experiences. Submissions regarding relevant open-source software and datasets for the use of the community are also welcome.
