PES GM 2023
In July 2023, GECAD attended the IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting in Orlando, represented by Prof. Zita Vale and Dr. Joao Soares. Prof. Vale played a key role as the Technical Committee Paper Coordinator for Analytical Methods for Power Systems, managing over 100 submissions.
The team also showcased their work under the PRECISE project. Prof. Vale organized a panel on “Benchmarking Artificial Intelligence Methods for Energy Generation and Consumption Forecasting,” featuring insights from industry and academic leaders. Additionally, Dr. Soares and Prof. Vale presented results from a Solar Generation Forecasting contest, part of the Task Force on Open Data Sets.
GECAD actively participated in a panel on “Multi-Agent Decision Support in Local Electricity Markets,” engaging with notable entities like EPRI and Eversource Energy. They also introduced a book, “Intelligent Data Mining and Analysis in Power and Energy Systems,” aligning with the PRECISE project’s focus on innovative energy solutions.
Furthermore, GECAD presented papers on microgrid scheduling and renewable energy community classification, underscoring their commitment to sustainable energy. The event facilitated valuable connections and discussions, reinforcing GECAD’s leadership in energy research. The team is set to continue their impactful work at the next IEEE PES GM in Seattle in 2024.
