IEEE CAI 2023

Power and Energy Cyber-Physical Solutions with Explainable Semantic Learning

IEEE CAI 2023

The inaugural IEEE Conference on Artificial Intelligence (CAI) was held in Santa Clara, California, on June 5 and 6, 2023, with the participation of Zita Vale, Joao Soares and Francisco Oliveira. The GECAD research group helped to organize the IEEE CAI 2023 Vertical Energy track and gave insightful speeches and foster relevant debates and knowledge sharing among researchers, practitioners, and industry experts, boosting AI-energy synergy.

Zita Vale, an expert in AI and sustainable energy, gave an invited talk on “AI Potential for a Sustainable and Efficient Energy Future” Zita Vale emphasized the possible uses of artificial intelligence for power systems. Her lecture covered Explainable AI, forecasting, smart grids, and energy management systems. Zita’s vision for using AI to create a greener and more efficient future impressed attendees.

GECAD’s delivered four papers during the conference co-authored by José Almeida, Francisco Oliveira, Luis Oliveira Gomes, Tiago Pinto, Gabriel Santos, Brígida Teixeira, Leonor Carvalhais, Rafael Barbarroxa, Fernando Lezama, Joao Soares and Zita Vale, demonstrating their competence on the field. The articles addressed energy optimization, demand response, ontologies, and explainable AI. Their thoughts and unique approaches sparked collaboration and new research at the meeting.
